We know that fountains have a relaxing effect on us as adults, but have you ever considered what the effect could be on a child?  Nearly all parents have trouble at one point or another in their child’s life getting them to go to sleep or to wind down.  Most parents have tried a variety of different options including white noise generators, soft music and humidifiers, but what about a fountain?

Wall fountains are ideal for a child’s room because they are available in a variety of different sizes and they can be placed out of reach of small children who would be tempted to play in the water.  The tranquil sound of running water is a great way to bring a sense of calm to a child’s room and it naturally humidifies their rooms to help with dust and allergens in the air.

The gentle flowing sound of water has been shown to help children of all ages sleep better.  Plus, they are great at drowning at sounds that may come from the rest of the house after the child has gone to sleep, which in turn keeps them from waking up from that noise.  They also drown out traffic and other outside noise from the room.  Wall fountains are beneficial for infants as well because they mimic the sounds of the mother’s womb, which is proven to be relaxing to babies.

Wall fountains are excellent for children because they are available in various sizes and can be placed out of reach.  There are also several fountain designs that are great to complement the décor of a child’s room.  Many are also natural and will complement any room in your home, even a kid’s room.  Other great fountains for children are self-contained tabletop fountains.  These are designed so that the child can’t play with the water, but can still hear the soothing sound of running water.

In many instances wall fountains can also double as night lights for young children because they have built in lights that put off a soft glow.  This is something that most children enjoy as they don’t like their rooms to be completely dark.  When it’s time for bed children will enjoy turning on their fountain and watching it with their parents during a bedtime story or just to relax and look at the water and the lights.
