Considering there are so many fountain styles at Soothing Walls, narrowing down the selection to one can seem like a near-impossible task. However, you may find the process a little simpler if you evaluate the space where you will be placing it, and determine an ideal size. There is no point spending hours, comparing a list of water features you love, when some may be too small or large for the room it will be housed in. Like other dynamic pieces of art, a water element naturally becomes a strong focal point, so scale should play a role in your buying decision.
Determine a Location
If you have not yet decided where you intend on placing the fountain, this should be the first thing you figure out. Obviously, shopping for a water wall for the living room is significantly different than looking for a small tabletop fountain to place on your dresser. Choose the location first, and you will find you instantly narrow down the selection substantially.
Now, if you fall in love with a versatile piece, such as our Campania Coin Mini Series Fountain or Karma Tabletop Fountain, these are pieces that do not really require much planning. Small and simple fountains, such as these can virtually be placed anywhere, and will complement nearly any space. Many of our customers come looking for a large water feature, and end up adding a second small one to the order as a nice complement to the main attraction.
If you are looking at one of our larger pieces then a little more thought does need to go into the decision. Looking at some of them on the Internet really does not give you a realistic idea of how large some of these pieces are. For example, our Grandeur River Floor Fountain may be exactly what you are looking for and you know it will match your décor perfectly, but you have to make sure the room is large enough to accommodate it. This fountain is 96 inches high and 60 inches wide, so it can easily dwarf a small space, and even become a hazard, if it is in the way of foot traffic.
The easiest way to make sure you are buying the right size fountain for your home is to buy a few yards of the cheapest discount material you can find. Use a measuring tape to measure and cut the fabric according to the fountain measurements and place it on the floor or tack it to a wall where you want it to go. You will instantly get a good idea if it will be too big or small. Keep in mind that one that is too large will invade a room, but one that is too small may get lost in the décor. Fortunately, the selection we have is extensive enough that you are sure to find one that is the perfect size.
